Business Energy Efficiency Program

Your business can make a difference and save now with our discounted business energy efficiency program!

One of the easiest, most profitable and least risky ways of improving your business productivity is to invest in energy efficiency. By setting up a new energy efficiency initiative, you’ll cut monthly energy bills, lift profitability, and improve productivity. And you’ll be taking a few solid steps towards improving your environmental performance.

BEEP gives you the framework to do it.

BEEP is the Business Energy Efficiency Program, a sub-element of the Blacktown Solar City trial, which is part of the Australian Government’s Solar Cities program.

BEEP is administered by Big Switch Projects, a leading Australian-owned energy efficiency company. By joining BEEP, you’ll enjoy discounted energy efficiency reviews, help with project implementation and marketing, and a business recognition program. And you’ll enjoy the confidence that you can report your results through an Australian Government-funded program.

What will BEEP do for me?
Energy is not a fixed cost. It can be managed. By making smart investments in energy savings technologies and processes, you’ll cut your power and gas bills. And by reducing your business’s energy consumption, you will reduce carbon emissions. BEEP is designed to be an easy, first-step climate change response strategy for mid-sized and larger firms.

Reducing energy consumption has other benefits:

How can I join BEEP?

  1. Call 02 8270 7777 or email blacktownsolarcity@bigswitch.com.au. A member of the Blacktown Solar City team will meet with you to discuss your needs and how to cut your costs.
  2. You’ll receive a fee proposal for the services you require. That might be just an energy efficiency review, performed to the Australian Standard for audits, AS 3598:2000, or it might include other environmental services such as a water efficiency review or help with managing a corporate carbon footprint.
  3. By accepting the proposal, you’ll benefit from discounts and rebates from the Solar City, as well as support from the business recognition program.
  4. After the energy efficiency review is carried out, you’ll receive a clear, concise report identifying your company’s energy-saving opportunities.

You have already completed your audit
  5. The report shows you how you can increase your profits and cut costs. You can then commit to whichever projects you would like to implement. While there is no compulsion to implement projects, the business case for each project is clearly outlined in the report.
  6. You can manage the projects yourself or Big Switch Projects can help you implement them.
  7. Ongoing recognition for participating in the program is provided by the Solar City program. You’ll be rewarded with recognition from an Australian Government-sponsored program and an experienced energy efficiency company. Your stakeholders can be assured the projects you’ve done are genuine.

How much energy can my business save?
Typically, lots! Very few buildings or industrial sites were designed to minimise long-term energy use. Most were built to a tight first-cost budget. But even those that were built with long-term energy efficiency in mind will benefit from a review of what new technologies and processes are now available to save you money and cut your carbon emissions. Economic modelling for the National Framework for Energy Efficiency concluded a few years back that most commercial buildings and industrial sites offered the potential to cut energy use between 30 and 70 per cent. That’s through off-the-shelf technologies in lighting, air conditioning, industrial process control, hot water and compressed air systems.
